Respondr
Motorways, rail & public transport

Respondr connects the control room with the people working on roads, tracks and vehicles.

With Respondr the control room, maintenance crews, road patrols and station staff talk on the same channels. The DMR, TETRA and analog radios you already have stay in service and talk with smartphones.

What Respondr offers road and transport operators

An accident, a roadworks site or a fault in a tunnel involves several crews and often several agencies. Respondr puts the control room, the crews on the road and the emergency services on the same channels: with a patch, a crew’s DMR radio and the emergency services’ TETRA radio talk on the same channel, with no radio operator acting as a go-between.

Each Respondr console in the control room runs its own local server and connects directly to the radio gateways: if one console stops, the others keep working. Along the line, smartphones with the Respondr app join the radios that are already installed.

Use cases on roads, rail and transit

Accidents and traffic management
The control room coordinates patrols, recovery crews and emergency vehicles on one channel and follows the response on the map.
Roadworks and night maintenance
Crews working on the carriageway or along the tracks stay in contact with the control room; people working alone are covered by man-down and SOS.
Tunnels
Where there is radio coverage in a tunnel, crews use the radios they already have, and the control room hears them on the same console as the smartphones.
Stations, depots and drivers
Station staff, depot teams and public transport drivers talk with the control centre from smartphones, PoC radios or vehicle radios.

A man-down alarm reaches the control room at once

If a worker falls or stops moving, the app sends the alarm with the position. The console pins the event above the channels and shows it on the map, and the control room can talk straight away with the people nearby.

The console shows Emma Kovac’s man-down alarm pinned above the channels of the Emergency tab. On the right the map marks her position, with a card giving her coordinates and the time of the last update.

Features for roads, rail and transit

Radio gateways
Analog, DMR and TETRA networks join the same channels through Respondr gateways.
Patch between networks
You can join your crew’s channel with another agency’s channel for the time of a response.
Man-down and SOS
The app detects a fall or no movement and sends the alarm with the position.
Live map
The control room sees the GPS position of crews and vehicles in real time.
Radio rooms per section
You can group channels, users and gateways by road section, line or depot.
Recording
Every call is recorded and can be played back for the review after an event.

Operational benefits

Faster responses
The control room reaches the nearest crew at once and coordinates everyone on the same channel.
Safer work along the line
People working alone, at night or in a tunnel stay connected to the control room with man-down and SOS.
No radios to replace
The radios already installed stay in service: Respondr connects them to smartphones and consoles.
